A hydraulic pump, unlike what most people believe, does not generate pressure. Rather it produces liquid movement or flow with enough power to overcome pressure induced by the load at the pump outlet. The mechanical energy to be converted into hydraulic pressure can be supplied by hand (manual), by an electric motor, or by air pressure.
